MC BRUNO BALANTA (The Qemists)

Bruno Balanta (Raa Raa) is an Mc, and a recording artist. Having spent his early years in life growing up in different parts of the world -from Portugal, to Ethiopia, Zambia, Germany and the Philippines- he finally settling in England, where he later began his career in the music industry. Having built a name within the Jungle/Dum and Bass scene, he is now best known as a vocalist –and one fifth- of The Qemists. He started his career on various pirate radio stations –including Drum and Bass World Wide in London- whilst simultaneously securing a monthly residency at a newly formed Drum and Bass night in Brighton (UK), called ‘Devotion’. Devotion –a national event organised by Dj Phantasy and Mc Skibadee- quickly became Brighton’s premier Drum and Bass night, hosting the biggest names in the industry. As their resident Mc in Brighton, he not only forged a strong relationship with the crowd, but he performed with some of the biggest names in the industry from; Andy C, Friction, Mampi Swift, Shy Fx, Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Wilkinson to Pendulum. Devotion is also where he and The Qemists forged a –Dj/Mc- relationship as resident artists, later forming a live band following the completion of their first album in 2009, ‘Join The Q’. Life in The Qemists has seen Bruno Balanta not only perform on some of the biggest stages in the world, but also share those same stages with some of the biggest artists in the world, from following Damian Marley for a headline performance in front of 250,000 people at Przystanek Woodstock (Poland), to performing at Japans famous Fuji Rock Festival. From writing/recording songs, to live performances, Bruno Balanta is a peoples favourite.
